With a strong foundation in the biological sciences, students develop a deep understanding of living systems鈥攆rom the molecular and cellular level to ecosystems and human health鈥攚hile gaining the practical skills needed for professional success.
Undergraduate students in Biology, Health Sciences, and Environmental Science & Policy study alongside dedicated faculty in teaching laboratories and across the University鈥檚 1,200-acre living laboratory on the Rindge campus. Experiential learning is a hallmark of the College. Faculty-mentored research, internships, and collaborative projects allow students to apply biological and scientific principles to real-world challenges. These experiences prepare graduates for advanced study in physical therapy, physician assistant studies, medicine, nursing, public health, environmental science, and other professional fields.
At the graduate level, the College is recognized for its Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Nursing programs, which emphasize scientific rigor, clinical excellence, and compassionate care. Meet Dean Mable Smith, PhD, JD, MN, NEA-BC, College of Health and Natural Sciences
A nurse by training, Dr. Mable Smith has had a distinguished career in academic leadership, including as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the Arizona College of Nursing, Assistant Vice President for Health Care Programs and Interim Dean at the School of Allied Health Professions at Monroe College, and Dean and Professor, College of Nursing and Public Health at South University. She holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and a J.D. from Florida State University.
