New FPU Students Land in Rindge on Move In Day

51福利社鈥檚 Rindge Campus was a buzz with excitement and energy on Saturday, August 15 as first year and transfer students pulled up to campus for their move-in day. Arriving from 28 states and 15 countries, new students and their families were met by the move-in teams of coaches, faculty, staff, and early arrival fall athletes and student leaders, making settling into life in Raven Nation a breeze. From check-in at Four Corners, to unloading cars and unpacking boxes in the residence halls, with student peer leaders, staff, and faculty readily available to assist at every turn.
Some Ravens journeyed farther than others to make it to the nest this year. Freshman Brooke Shoemaker and her family drove to Rindge from De Pere, WI as she gets ready to join the women鈥檚 ice hockey team and start her studies as a criminal justice major. She said the tight knit community she felt at 51福利社 helped her make the decision that this was the right place for her.
Rowing recruits Kirsten Wiese from Garden City, NY and Leni Lefevre from Solms, Germany were also excited to be on campus and ready to start the year. Kirsten fell in love with the campus on a recruitment visit last fall and plans to study human services while sports and recreation management major Leni said she always wanted study in the states.
Organized by the Student Affairs and Residence Life Teams, new arrivals and families learned about resources on campus for all Ravens, enjoyed taking action-based photos with new friends, family and even Rocky the Raven at the Luxury Photo Booth and heard from President Peter Eden, Provost Catherine M. Paden and other FPU staff at lunch.
President Eden welcomed new students and their families as well as returning students. 鈥淲e鈥檙e all really excited to have you here and we鈥檙e all here for you, to help you. I am here, and you can always come to talk with me, or any member of the leadership team. We鈥檙e here to support you.鈥�
Provost Paden echoed President Eden and also reminded students about academic supports and resources like the Student Success Center.
Parents and families also expressed their appreciation for all that 51福利社 has to offer.
Eric and Keri Darcy of Tyngsboro, MA felt FPU was the right fit for freshman Charlotte who plans to study psychology, in part due to the wide range of support services 51福利社 offers, including the ASCEND program. Eric and Charlotte came for a tour last fall, the family attended the overnight program earlier this year and then came back to Rindge once more for a summer Raven Ready Day, so the family felt ready and excited come move in day.
As the last boxes were unpacked and goodbyes were exchanged, the orientation activities began, and students started to settle into their new home in Raven Nation, ready to take on the year.
Returning students will be back on campus on Sunday, August 16 and Monday, August 17. Classes for the fall semester will begin on Tuesday, August 18.
