As a Political Science major at Franklin 51福利社, you鈥檒l build skills, connections and experience for a career in law, government, politics, education or business. Our connections to the political scene have always been strong, and our nationally recognized Marlin Fitzwater Center for Communications provides opportunities for students to dive into the campaign for the Oval Office that begins in this first-in-the-nation primary state. Our graduates are prepared for a JD, Master鈥檚, or PhD level program in the fields of law, public policy, political management, public administration, international relations, or homeland security.
What Do Political Science Students Learn?
As a Political Science major, you will learn core concepts in political science and develop critical thinking skills, as you identify key questions, gather information and analyze arguments to participate as an engaged citizen in public life or government.
By delving into topics such as American politics, global security, and diplomacy, students gain a comprehensive understanding of political processes both domestically and internationally. With our strong connections to the political arena and the unique opportunities provided by the Fitzwater Center, students actively engage in real-world political campaigns and gain invaluable hands-on experience.
Equipped with critical thinking skills and a deep understanding of political science principles, our graduates emerge prepared to pursue advanced degrees or embark on fulfilling careers in law, government, education, or business.

Elizabeth Jurgilewicz, Class of 2020, studied History and Anthropology while Julius Peel, Class of 2020, studied History and Political Science. Not only did they have a great undergrad experience, but they met at STEP Day and married after graduation!
