The Public Health minor imparts students with a broad understanding of the factors that shape the health of populations and equip them with evaluative tools for improving the health of the community.
What Do Students Learn in the Public Health Minor?
The Public Health minor is designed to build the undergraduate鈥檚 understanding of public health principles. You will be exposed to the core public health areas and skills necessary to carry out the essential public health functions of assessment, policy development, and assurance.
Students who wish to minor in Public Health may do so by working with a Public Health faculty member to complete the specified course work. A minor in Public Health will prepare you to pursue a career with organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hospitals, and Non-Governmental Agencies (NGOs). Students may also pursue graduate work in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Toxicology, Community Health, Health Education, Biostatistics, and Healthcare Administration.
